Accessories for Lonely Men (Noam Toran, 2001)

Accessories for Lonely Men consists of a collection of eight fictional products designed to alleviate loneliness after the departure or loss of a woman. The project is an attempt to understand what initiates loneliness; do we miss the individual or the generic traces they leave behind?

If you could translate emotions digitally...

The Mask of Emotion is a project from the Digital Media Design Dept at Hongik University in Korea.

So here is the deal...

My 3rd year project was all bout scent technology and designing a device that would bring people together using smells.
The theory was that if smells can trigger memories, they can also trigger emotions and therefore links to other people, places, anything.
Commnication has broken down over the years, leaving people to share their emotions with devices which is then translated into a digital version of a human response.
I designed a device that a person could carry with them which would emitt a smell on command, triggering a more human response to a digital message.
My aim from now, is to go back and take my project apart, research it fuller and come up with a complete solution.
